Rev. Fr. M.D. Varghese conducted the first Holy Qurbana at St. Albans Anglican Church, Balmoral, Auckland. The congregation accepted St. Dionysius Vattasseril as its patron saint.
By Diocesan Kalpana, the congregation became the first parish dedicated to St. Dionysius Vattasseril in the Madras Diocese. The first Managing Committee was formed with Kavil Ninan Varghese (Trustee) and Philip Chacko Ayyamplackal (Secretary).
The church was officially incorporated in New Zealand under the name 'St. Dionysius Indian Orthodox Church Auckland New Zealand Inc.'
H.G. Dr. Abraham Mar Severios visited NZ, celebrating the first Holy Eucharist in Hamilton and visiting community members in Wellington.
H.G. Dr. Yakob Mar Irenaios visited, initiating spiritual organizations, appointing John Varghese as Sunday School Headmaster, and launching the parish website.
Rev. Fr. T.G. John arrived as the first Resident Vicar, expanding services to Wellington on November 22, 2003.
Rev. Fr. Varghese Philip Idichandy took charge as vicar for a three-year term, establishing regular Sunday services and kick-starting the annual Food Festival fundraising events.
Following a spiritual vision experienced by Mother Wendy of St. Alban's Church, a dedicated Shrine of St. Dionysius was established inside one of Auckland's oldest churches, anchoring permanent intercession prayers.
